Who We Are and Our Purpose
The Miss Greater Springfield Scholarship Program is an affiliate of
the Miss Virginia and Miss America Scholarship Organizations. The
Miss America Organization, with its state and local affiliates, is
the number one resource in the world for women to receive
educational scholarships. In 2006, the Miss America Scholarship
Organization made available over $45 million dollars to 12,000
women. It is the financial support of organization, businesses and
individuals? from the smallest companies to the Fortune 500
companies? who make the $45 million dollars in scholarships
available nationwide.
The Miss Greater Springfield Scholarship Program is a non-profit
scholarship program whose purpose is awarding scholarships to
deserving young women ages 17 to 24 years old and providing a forum
for their community service.
The Results
Locally, the program has awarded $12,800.00 in scholarships and
prizes to our contestants in our short eight years. Our eight
contestants went on to Miss Virginia, two placing in the top 10,
one as the second runner-up to Miss Virginia who eventually went on
to win the title of Miss Virginia and Miss America; and another
crowned Miss Virginia. Placing in the top ten
and top five awards them additional scholarship money. Miss Virginia
Scholarship Pageant is televised live on News Channel 8.
What You Can Do to Help
It is the financial support of local citizens, businesses and civic
organizations whose charitable contributions to the Miss Greater
Springfield Scholarship Program make it possible to award
scholarships. We appreciate monetary donations plus attendance,
support, or by placing ads in our program. You can see our
