Entry 1: Now That I Have Floated Back Down To Earth… Hello Everyone! Coming to you straight from my apartment in Harrisonburg, Virginia, I bring you my first journal entry as Miss Greater Springfield 2008. I could not be more excited for my upcoming year, and I hope to keep everyone updated on my adventures and experiences as I embark on this exciting journey. I would like to take the time to express my sincere appreciation for everyone involved in the Miss Greater Springfield pageant for contributing your time and talents to making it such a positive experience for me and my fellow contestants. It is dedication from giving people such as yourselves, who allow young women such as myself to pursue their dreams, and that truly is priceless. A special thank you to the esteemed panel of judges, Chip Brown; Rita Steele; Jerri James; Richard Kibler; and Brad Hibbs, for executing your important roles with heartfelt commitment, consideration, and kindness. Thank you to my wonderful friends and family who came out to support me, and who have supported me throughout my life in all of my endeavors. I was so touched to see all of your smiling faces in the audience; your unconditional love and support mean more to me than you will ever know. Click HERE for More...
Entry 2: The Journey Begins… Still whirling from my new title, I had the opportunity to make my first appearance as Miss Greater Springfield on March 1st, riding in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Alexandria Virginia. What a special way to begin my spring break! This appearance was especially dear to my heart because, besides the fact that St. Patrick’s Day season holds cherished memories for me as an Irish Dancer, this parade in particular is one I danced in for many years and was certainly a treasured hallmark of my dancing career. What fun it was to create brand new memories, and begin an exciting new chapter in my life in a place where nostalgic notions of my childhood lingered all around me. Click HERE for More...
Entry 3: A Magical Spring Break… The morning after the Alexandria parade, I boarded a 6:40 AM flight from Washington Dulles to sunny Orlando, Florida. There, I met two of my girlfriends who had arrived on Saturday for our spring break trip to Disney World!! Disney has always been a favorite vacation spot for my family and me, ever since I was very little. On my first visit I was four, and too shy to visit with most of the characters (except the Princesses). I’ve gotten a little braver since then, but still find myself enchanted by the magic of it all. On this trip, my friends and I visited Magic Kingdom, as well as MGM, and really had a blast. This was my first trip to Disney that I was daring enough to ride the infamous Tower of Terror at MGM (newly renamed Disney’s Hollywood Studio), and I must admit I felt pretty good about myself coming off of it (even if half of my fellow riders were under the age of 10 :op).
